Last year saw the return of Trevor Wye’s, much acclaimed, International Flute Course, an exciting holiday for both the advanced and beginner players.
The course, run by a fantastic and distinguished group of teachers and players, nurtures and inspires in a relaxed and supporting environment that provides an intensive and concentrated week.
The course provides the opportunity to have two master classes with Trevor Wye. In addition to his warm up classes and open master classes (on studies, etudes, orchestral excerpts etc.) Trevor’s encyclopedic knowledge of all things flute, his emphasis on technical dexterity and his advice on developing an effective practice regime mean that this flute course is invaluable to flute players of all abilities and standards.
Trevor Wye studied the flute privately both with Geoffrey Gilbert and the celebrated Marcel Moyse. He was a freelance orchestral and chamber music player on the London scene for many years.

The ISC
The course promises to provide many exciting opportunities, undoubtedly, the highlight being master classes with the great teacher Trevor Wye. Alongside this, he will be giving solo recitals, warm up sessions and lectures on many different aspects of the flute, including its history and how the flute developed.
Rachel Brown
Rachel Brown will also be with us this year, providing invaluable master classes on baroque music on the modern flute. She will be giving all students an opportunity to see and play the baroque flute. This is a fantastic chance for any flautist to improve their performance of historical works.
Julie Wright
Alongside all of this Julie Wright will be running an amateur course. Students taking part in this course will receive individual lessons and the opportunity to perform in flute choir and ensemble groups.
Flute Repair
Ian McLauchlan will also be teaching basic repair skills for flautists. This is an extremely useful skill to have and one that many flautists often don’t get the opportunity to learn; a highly beneficial and informative part of the course.
Conductor Class
This year we will also be joined by the conductor Marco Bellasi who will be helping us to learn orchestral music from the conductor’s perspective. A great opportunity to explore the world of orchestral repertoire in more depth.
We have the great pleasure to announce our new pianist on the team for 2013 – Helen Crayford!
